Sustainable Sandhills was asked by a group of concerned citizens from Carolina Lakes in Harnett County to help present a Recycling initiative to Harnett County Commissioners in July 2007. The Commissioners approved a Recycling Task Force made up of local officials, community leaders and interested citizens, and the Executive Director of Sustainable Sandhills, Jon Parsons, was asked to facilitate the study. A final report to the Commissioners will be given late November or early December 2007.
