Reducing Energy Expenses at your Business Facility
Sustainable Sandhills co-sponsored a free program to help local businesses reduce energy costs on January 17, 2007, at M.J. Soffe. Approximately 30 local business owners attended to learn no- and low-cost ways to save on energy bills. The event was also sponsored by the State Energy Office of the N.C. Department of Administration, along with the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and Industrial Extension Service at N.C. State University, Fayetteville Public Works Commission, M.J. Soffe, and the Cumberland County Business Council.
Carolina Lakes Community Meeting:
Sustainable Sandhills visited the Carolina Lakes Community on January 28, 2007,to discuss recycling options for their community. Currently, the community has the option of recycling at Harnett County's convenience sites (newspaper, glass,aluminum), but would like to expand their recycling options and have more convenient and cleaner sites. Sustainable Sandhills is engaged in an active dialog with the County and Community. More than 50 people attended the event, including Harnett County Commissioner Tim McNeill.
Renewable Energy Technologies Diploma Series, 2006:
"Electric Generation with Photovoltaic or Wind Systems" Renewable Energy Technologies Diploma Series course was offered at the PWC Operations Center in Fayetteville, NC. For details, check the link above.
Sustainability Expo, 2006:
Sustainable Sandhills hosted a Sustainability Expo and screening of the "Kilowatt Ours" film at the Airborne & Special Operations Museum July 17, 2006. Sustainable business partners and local nonprofit organizations set-up exhibits in the lobby of the Museum and film maker Jeff Barrie introduced his documentary film about the benefits of Energy Conservation -- and the costs of not conserving!
