Land Suitability Project - Release 2

Technical documentation and workshop presentations

RELEASE 2 WorkshopS

RELEASE 2 INFORMATION

Sustainable Sandhills received a STAR (Science to Achieve Results) Program grant from the US EPA's Collaborative Network for Sustainability in 2005.  The resulting three-year project engaged the region's planning, development and conservation communities in the design of a GIS-based land use decision support tool.

Thanks in part to a grant from the NC Interagency Leadership Team, Release 2 of the Land Suitability Maps is complete and was presented to the region at a series of workshops in late 2009 and early 2010.

WORKSHOP PRESENTATIONS

The new and improved sets of maps were described and demonstrated with real world examples from projects right here in the communities of the Sandhills region.    Attendees left  the meetings with a thorough understanding of how to use the maps in their day-to-day work and were provided a DVD with a complete set of GIS files (see RELEASE 2 DOCUMENTATION section below).

RELEASE 2 DOCUMENTATION

A DVD is given to all workshop attendees that includes a full set of documentation , map images and shape files.  Some of the most useful files on the DVD are available for download below:
