Event Summary
Sustainable Sandhills hosted a Suitability Maps Workshop in Southern Pines for the eight counties represented by Sustainable Sandhills, along with two other counties represented by BRAC-RTF. The results of two years of work on a USEPA grant (awarded to Sustainable Sandhills) were presented, with an emphasis on how the suitability maps can help local planners in their routine work. Our partner in this effort included the Center for Geographic Information and Analysis (NC Department of Environment and Natural Resources). The Workshop was co-hosted by the BRAC Regional Task Force.

Suitability Maps for the Sandhills Region Workshop
Sustainable Sandhills received a three-year STAR (Science To Achieve Results) grant award in August of 2005 from the EPA's Collaborative Network for Sustainability (CNS) program.

The documents and maps on this page were presented and discussed at a workshop that was attended by more than 60 planners from the region on September 14, 2007.
