Vision to Action PLan
In August 2007, the Army Corps of Engineers (ACoE) brought their Vision to Action Program to four communities in the Sandhills Region: Wagram, Rockingham, Laurinburg and Dunn. Community leaders and concerned citizens were asked to join the ACoE to share their vision of how they would enhance their city--such as walking trails, paddling areas, improved downtown areas, natural habitats, etc. They were then asked to put their idea(s) onto paper. Artists traveling with the ACoE took the drawings and compiled an overall pictorial vision for the community and presented them to each community's leaders and elected officials. Sustainable Sandhills, as regional host for this program, continues to work with City Managers and community leaders in their quest to implement these visions.
