We’re thrilled that you’re interested in volunteering with Sustainable Sandhills! Our volunteers are integral to the success of our programs. With the help of selfless residents like you, we’re striving to create a “culture of sustainability” with resilient environmental, economic and social resources.

We have several volunteer opportunities available. Read their descriptions, and if one (or more!) sounds fun and fulfilling, complete the volunteer interest form to connect with our team.

GARDEN GURUS

Garden gurus assist with community garden projects. These events happen occasionally in the spring and summer.

LITTER BUSTERS

Litter Busters participate in our monthly roadside litter collection events. These events typically occur on second Saturdays from 9 am to 11 am at various locations throughout the Sandhills.

Can’t attend a Litter Busters event? Contact us about checking out supplies such as litter grabbers, buckets and gloves.

If you are not comfortable attending a litter collection event, you can assist with other waste management projects. We also need volunteers to on-board businesses for our 5 For Friday campaign.

OFFICE OPERATORS

Office Operators assist our team with clerical and administrative tasks.

SUSTAINABILITY AMBASSADORS

Sustainability Ambassadors are the “people people,” and they assist us with tabling at community events. These outgoing, friendly volunteers chat with residents about Sustainable Sandhills’ programs and projects, answer and direct questions and solicit donations.

TREE HUGGERS

Tree Huggers assist with our carbon banks. They go into the forests, measure trees and collect and process data through the NASA GLOBE Observer app.
