At Sustainable Sandhills, we strive to increase community access to fresh, affordable food and support the small business entrepreneurs that are the cornerstones of our regional economy. Our regional farmers markets achieve our mission and provide a gathering place where farmers, artisans, crafters, and residents can #eatlocal, #drinklocal, #shoplocal, and #lovelocal.

MADE FROM SCRATCH PROGRAM

The Sustainable Sandhills MADE FROM SCRATCH Program is designed to educate local women – especially at-risk and low-income women – about developing “urban homesteading” skills such as gardening, composting, canning, sewing, knitting, beekeeping, and soap making and turning those skills into small business opportunities.

Sustainable Sandhills plans to offer a series of free-of-charge workshops on “urban homesteading” skills to participants, as well as classes on translating their newly honed talents into business opportunities. The pilot area for the program will be Fayetteville, North Carolina. Interested partners and participants may contact Sustainable Sandhills for more information at info@sustainablesandhills.org or 910.484.9098.
