We are so grateful for our volunteers! Below is a description of each of our available volunteer opportunities, with contact information. Our list of events where volunteers are needed is also availlable on Volunteer Match.
Community Cleanup Volunteers
One of our greatest need for volunteers is at our monthly 5 For Friday litter cleanups. So far in 2021, 5 For Friday volunteers have removed around 3 TONS of litter from our environment. To find out more about volunteering at upcoming cleanups, visit the 5forFriday website HERE. Questions? Contact Anna Chott at email@example.com.
Earth Day Volunteers
Another volunteer opportunity is in April during Earth Month, for Sustainable Sandhills’s Cumberland County Green Schools Earth Day Celebration, which is a two-day event. To inquire about this activity, please email Renée Jones at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Carbon Bank Volunteers
Between November and February, we call for volunteers to help count and map our carbon bank and to help us do a random survey so we can calculate the amount of carbon sequestered. To inquire about this activity, please email Renée Jones at email@example.com.
Air Quality Ambassador Volunteers
Are you an active voice in your local community, or interested in becoming one? Are you passionate about our environment and health? Do you want to learn more about how you can improve your local air quality–and help others do so, too? If yes, then the AQ Ambassador Program might be the perfect endeavor for you! We’re looking for enthusiastic, passionate individuals who are eager to learn and make a difference in their local community. The AQ Ambassador Program initiative is designed to help citizens pave the way to cleaner air in our very own neighborhoods. Ambassadors will attend Air Quality Workshops where you’ll learn:
- Air Quality Issues
- Simple ways to improve indoor + outdoor air quality
- Personal vehicles and air pollution – can EVs really improve our air quality?
- Community Outreach
AQ Ambassadors will be provided with the support they need to help build and develop localized solutions to air quality in their community. They will also be provided with a digital toolkit containing all the essentials needed to advocate for better air quality. To inquire about this volunteer position, please email Kia Jones at firstname.lastname@example.org.
