Join Sustainable Sandhills for our fall fundraiser A Paddle & A Picnic! We’ll kayak 1.5 miles upstream along the beautiful Cape Fear River to a rock garden where we’ll enjoy a catered picnic lunch by Beehive Yourself NC and an education program about the unique ecosystem of the Sandhills and the Cape Fear River Basin. Then we’ll float 1.5 miles downstream to end our day and gather for a Dutch treat dinner at The Riverside Grill.

Bring-Your-Own-Boat Tickets are $50 and include your lunch, education program and ramp fees.

Rent-A-Boat Tickets are $90 and include your kayak rental, lunch and education program.

A portion of the proceeds benefits Sustainable Sandhills’ water quality programs.

The paddle is about 3 miles – first upstream then downstream. The water is relatively flat with one section of Class I rapids.

The paddle is suitable for paddlers of all skill levels and is recommended for ages 12 and up. Paddlers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

We will require all paddlers to sign liability waivers and wear personal flotation devices (PFDs) at all times.

No refunds will be issued. You may transfer your ticket to another paddler or another event date. We will have a rain date in the event of inclement weather or unsuitable river conditions. We will notify paddlers of any cancellations or changes on the evening prior to the event.
